Iran refuses to compete with Israeli

ATHENS (Reuters) – Iran’s world judo champion Arash Miresmaeili refused to compete against an Israeli Sunday, triggering a fresh crisis at the Olympic Games where race, creed or color are not allowed to interfere with sport.

“This is a general policy of our country to refrain from competing against athletes of the Zionist regime and Arash Miresmaeili has observed this policy,” [the Iranian National Olympic Committee in Tehran ] said.

I wonder how the IOC will deal with this, given the anti-Semitism predominant in Europe.

I thought the anti-semetic comment about Europe demonstrated
gross ignorance. Where did this view come from?

It’s unfortunate that politics and prejudice does intrude the
Olympics. But I’m wondering what the Iran Zionist policy is. Does anyone
know? Has it got something to do with the Israeli persecution of
    Palestinians?

I had to laught today when I heart that US journalists had complained
about Australian journalists at the Athens media centre. Apparently, the
Americans felt the Australians cheered too loud for Thorpedo in the
200m swimming event. Now that’s a switch! Americans calling Aussies loud.

The Israelis do not persecute the Palestinians. Besides the Palestinian Authority is both anti-semetic and a dictatorship that sponsors terrorism.

What planet are you on? Read a newspaper sometime. Europe is demonstrating ever greater and more public anti-semitism with each passing year. I wonder if this has anything to do with the increasing Moslem populations? Gee, ya think?

In the interest of full disclosure, I am anti-zionist, but not anti-jewish. But as far as I’m concerned, “you can’t win if you don’t play.” They should send the Iranian home a looser as that’s the only way the games can hope to remain above it all.

By the way: I wonder how many people realize that Arabs and Palastenians are Semites too? The term Antisemite in referring to being against the Jews (Who are not all Semites, many are of other races) is just another use of political correctness at work.
